Where to Find Your Google Reviews: Those You Received and Those You Wrote

There are two kinds of “my Google reviews”: the ones customers left for your business, and the ones you wrote yourself. Here is where each one lives.

Key points

  • Reviews about your business are in your Google Business Profile, under “Read reviews”.
  • Reviews you wrote as a customer are in Google Maps, under your contributions.
  • A review that does not appear may have been filtered by Google.
  • Turn on notifications so that you see each new review the day it arrives.

"Where are my Google reviews?" The question hides two different ones. A business owner wants to see what customers wrote. A customer wants to find a review they posted last year. Google keeps them in two separate places, and most confusion comes from looking in the wrong one.

Where are the reviews customers left for your business?

In your Google Business Profile. Sign in to the account that manages the business, then:

  1. Search for your business name on Google, or open the Google Maps app.
  2. In the management panel of your profile, choose "Read reviews".
  3. You see every review, the newest first, with the option to reply.

From the same screen you can sort reviews and report one that breaks the rules. On that subject, see what can and cannot be removed.

Where are the reviews you wrote yourself?

In Google Maps, under your own account, not under any business.

  1. Open Google Maps while signed in.
  2. Open the menu and choose "Your contributions".
  3. Select "Reviews".

Every review you have published is listed there. You can edit or delete each one. This is also the only place where a review can be deleted by its author.

Why does a review not appear?

A customer swears they left you five stars, and you see nothing. Three explanations cover most cases.

  • It was posted on another listing. A duplicate of your profile, or a business with a similar name.
  • It was filtered. Google uses automated systems to detect reviews that may break its policies, and some genuine reviews are caught. Google says so in its help pages on missing reviews.
  • It was never published. The customer wrote the text and closed the page before confirming.

There is no way to force a filtered review to appear. What you can do is make leaving a review simpler, with a direct review link, so that fewer are lost on the way.

How do you avoid missing new reviews?

Turn on notifications in your Business Profile settings: Google then emails you when a review arrives. A reply within a day or two shows future customers that someone is listening.

If you manage several locations, opening each profile every morning does not last long. A tool that gathers reviews in one place and flags those without a reply saves that routine.

My advice: check your reviews on a fixed day each week, reply to all of them, and never let a negative one sit without an answer for more than two days.
