How to Get Your Google Review Link (and Turn It Into a QR Code)
Your Google review link opens the review form in one tap. Here is where to find it, how to build it from a Place ID, and how to share it without breaking the rules.

Key points
- The link is in your Google Business Profile, under “Ask for reviews”.
- It opens the review form directly: no searching, no extra step.
- You can also build it yourself from your Place ID.
- Share it by email, by text message, or as a QR code at the counter.
Asking a customer to "leave us a review on Google" rarely works. They have to search for you, find the right listing, find the button. Most give up before the form opens. A Google review link removes all of that: one tap, and the stars are waiting.
Where is your Google review link?
Google gives it to you. You need to be signed in to the account that manages the business.
- Search for your business name on Google, or open the Google Maps app.
- In your Business Profile, choose "Ask for reviews". Depending on the screen, the option may read "Get more reviews".
- Copy the short link that appears.
That link opens the review form of your business, and nothing else.
What if you cannot find the option?
It happens, especially on a profile you have just claimed. There is a second route, through your Place ID: the identifier Google assigns to each place.
Google offers a Place ID Finder in its documentation for developers. Type your business name, copy the identifier, and place it at the end of this address:
https://search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid=YOUR_PLACE_ID
The result behaves like the official short link. If you prefer not to assemble it by hand, our free generator builds it from the Place ID.
How should you share the link?
The same way for every customer. Three channels cover most situations.
By email
Two lines the day after the job: thank you, a review helps others find us, here is the link. A review request tool sends these and avoids writing twice to the same person.
By text message
For trades where the customer's phone number is all you have. Keep it as short as the email.
As a QR code
On the counter, the invoice, the window, the delivery note. The customer scans it while waiting. You can create one in a few seconds with the Google review QR code generator: it is free and the code never expires, because it contains the link itself.
What must you avoid?
Two things Google's policies forbid, and which I still see offered as "tips":
- Rewarding reviews. No discount, no gift, no prize draw in exchange for a review.
- Sorting customers. Sending the link only to those you know are happy is selective solicitation. The link goes to everyone.
Does the link ever change?
The short link stays valid as long as your profile exists. If you create a new profile after a move or a merger, the link changes: reprint your posters. That is the one maintenance task to remember.
Summary
| Need | Solution |
|---|---|
| Find the link | Business Profile → "Ask for reviews" |
| Option not available | Build it from your Place ID |
| Ask after a job | Short email or text with the link |
| Ask on site | QR code on the counter or invoice |
| Stay within the rules | Same link for every customer, no reward |
My advice: get the link today, print one QR code, and put it where customers pay. It is the smallest change with the most visible effect on your profile.
